Thoughts on PolyamoryIt seems to me that most people think of polyamory in terms of threesomes, of swinging. A way of sleeping around that isn't technically "cheating." A prevailing idea in the '60s counterculture was free love. Most people thought they were free, expressing an interchange of love with multiple partners. But it wasn't. It was slutting around without consequences. But at least everyone was equal, and diverging from the old way. In my mind, polyamory isn't openly getting with as many people as you want at a time.

3rd thoughts regarding polyamoryI've continued working on what polyamory means to me and applying it to my life as I move through it. There must be some balance between all these friends, mustn't there? I don't think it's juggling, I think it's more like spinning plates. There's some orbital movement, some rotation, but you're not letting go of one thing (a ball) to hold another, you're adding to your own unique solar system. I like that. It's charming, and feels harmonic, feels orchestral.

If you don't know who cheeks is, you're missing out. [link] I drew this from a still from this vid, and using another image to do the top of his head and his chin, which are missing from my screencap. I used a couple of screencaps I made from Garbage's the World is not enough video [link] and morphed it with this image [link] to draw Shirley Manson, because no image i found had her mouth in the right position for speaking.
She's actually very hard to draw, due to her strange facial geometry, and this was my first time. I had some trouble because I had the added challenge of tilting her head, and inventing the hands - even though I modeled my own hands a bit for the positioning. I glanced at a couple other pictures to make Cheeks' neck and shoulders.
There are some lyrics from Garbage songs across the picture, on the left in the form of raindrops and umbrella it reads "Pour your misery down on me" from the song I'm only Happy When it Rains. At the top right it says "I'll free your mind and your androgyny" from the song Androgyny. At bottom right it reads in the heart "heaven knows what you've got to prove" and next to it "manipulate it" from Paranoid. Finally, emanating from Shirley's open mouth, and wrapping across Cheeks' neck and shoulders are the lyrics "but it is such a perfect place to start my love" from the World is not Enough.
The reason for drawing this picture is that Cheeks loves Shirley Manson. Don't believe me? Take it from the horse's mouth [link] Also, I appreciate being able to hear echoes of her music as part of the ancestral inspiration for his music today.
This took me around 40 hours, not that I was particularly counting, just a guestimate. I started with an off-white piece of 23.5 x 14.5" (59 x 37cm) 80lb drawing paper, sketched the drawing out in graphite (took forever!) as seen in the wip [link] . If you compare the wip to the finished product, you may notice that I moved both of his eyes. This is all colored in with fine point color sharpies and colored pencils. It left me stressed out for the 10 days or so it took to complete, and elated and exhausted upon completion.
