one feather jangling to its own tune

alternately watching it in the increasing light
alternately hyperventilating
it feels like a band of knives suffocating me
salt stains even on my shoulder

the burnt out and flood ridden flesh of my face
strains to bring in breath
puffed and sore
will breathing this hard kill me?
